Understanding the Gulf Work Visa Process
The Employer is Your Sponsor (Kafil)
The most important thing to understand is that you cannot apply for a work visa on your own. A local company in the Gulf must hire you and act as your sponsor (known as a “Kafil”). Therefore, your primary goal is to secure a job offer. This eligibility checker helps you understand if you’re a strong candidate for companies to consider sponsoring.
The Importance of Degree Attestation
For most professional roles in the Gulf, holding a Bachelor’s degree is a minimum requirement. Furthermore, this degree must be officially attested. This is a lengthy process involving verification from your home country’s government and the embassy of the Gulf country you’re moving to. A non-attested degree is often not recognized for visa purposes, making this a critical step to complete early.
The Mandatory Medical Test
After you arrive in the Gulf country, you must undergo a mandatory medical examination. This test screens for several communicable diseases, including HIV, Hepatitis B & C, and Tuberculosis. A positive result for any of these conditions will unfortunately lead to the rejection of your residence permit and deportation. It is a strict, non-negotiable requirement across all GCC countries.
