✦ About This Tool

What Is the Schengen 90/180 Calculator?

The visaora.io Schengen 90/180 Day Counter is a free, browser-based tool that helps non-EU travelers track exactly how many days they have used and how many remain within the Schengen Area — under the 90-day-in-any-180-day rolling window rule. No account, no spreadsheets, no manual counting.

In 2026, accurate day tracking has never been more critical. The EU’s Entry/Exit System (EES) went live progressively from October 2025 and reached full implementation across all 29 Schengen countries on 10 April 2026. This system automatically records every entry and exit using biometric fingerprints and facial scans — replacing the old passport stamp system entirely. Border officers can now see your exact day count in real time. Overstays are automatically flagged and stored in the EES database for up to 5 years.

The 90/180 rule itself has not changed — but the consequences of getting it wrong are now far more serious and permanent. This tool helps you stay on the right side of the line.

🚨 EES Fully Live — 10 April 2026

The EU Entry/Exit System is now fully operational across all Schengen borders. Passport stamps have been replaced by biometric registration (fingerprints + facial scan) at every entry and exit.

In its first 4 months, EES logged 17 million travelers, 30 million border crossings, and flagged over 4,000 overstays. Overstay fines in France stand at €198. Future Schengen visa applications and ETIAS authorizations will be affected by your EES record.

ETIAS (mandatory €20 pre-travel authorization for visa-exempt travelers from the US, UK, Canada, Australia etc.) is expected to launch in late 2026 once EES is fully stable.

✦ Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

No — the 90/180 rule itself remains unchanged. You can still stay up to 90 days in any rolling 180-day period across all 29 Schengen countries. What has changed is enforcement. The EES (Entry/Exit System), fully live from 10 April 2026, automatically tracks every entry and exit using biometrics, making it impossible to overstay undetected. Border officers see your exact day count in real time.
The Entry/Exit System (EES) is the EU’s new biometric border database, fully operational from 10 April 2026. On your first Schengen entry after this date, a border kiosk or officer captures your four fingerprints and a facial scan. Every subsequent entry and exit is logged automatically. The system calculates your remaining 90-day allowance in real time. Overstays are flagged instantly and retained in the database for up to 5 years, affecting future visa applications and ETIAS authorizations.
Yes. Under the official 90/180 rule, both the day you enter and the day you exit the Schengen Area count as full days. For example, arriving on March 31 and leaving on April 1 uses 2 days, not 1. This is also how the EES system counts days — there is no “half day” allowance. This tool applies the same calculation.
ETIAS (European Travel Information and Authorisation System) is a mandatory pre-travel authorization for visa-exempt travelers — including citizens from the US, UK, Canada, Australia, and 50+ other countries. It costs €20, is valid for 3 years (or until your passport expires), and must be obtained before departure — similar to the US ESTA. ETIAS is expected to launch in late 2026, after EES is fully stable. It is separate from EES registration, which happens at the border.
Under EES, overstays are automatically detected and recorded. Consequences include: financial fines (e.g. €198 in France), a digital overstay record retained for up to 5 years, future Schengen visa refusals, ETIAS rejection once it launches, potential entry bans, and in serious cases, deportation. The old strategy of hoping faded passport stamps go unnoticed no longer works — EES shares data in real time across all 29 countries.
