Cookie Policy
LAST UPDATED: SEPTEMBER 16, 2026
Short version: We use three kinds of cookies — preferences (your dark-mode choice), analytics (anonymous usage stats), and affiliate cookies (only when you click a tagged link). You can block or delete all of them without breaking the free tools.
1. What Are Cookies?
Cookies are small text files stored by your browser. Similar technologies (like localStorage) work the same way. We use the term "cookies" for both.
2. Cookies We Use
| Category | Purpose | Example / Duration |
|---|---|---|
| Preferences | Remembers your dark/light theme choice. | localStorage "vso_theme" — until you clear it |
| Analytics | Anonymous usage statistics: which pages and tools are used, device type, country-level location. Helps us decide what to build next. | Google Analytics (_ga, _ga_*) — up to 14 months |
| Affiliate / Marketing | Set by affiliate partners only when you click a tagged affiliate link, so commissions can be attributed. See Affiliate Disclosure. | Partner-specific — typically 30–90 days |
We do not use advertising cookies, and we do not sell cookie data.
3. Third-Party Cookies
- Google Analytics: aggregate site measurement.
- Affiliate networks: only after you click an affiliate link.
- Embedded content (if any, e.g., videos) may set its own cookies under its own policy.
4. How to Control Cookies
- Your browser settings let you block or delete cookies at any time (Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge all support this).
- Blocking analytics or affiliate cookies does not affect the free tools — they run in your browser without cookies.
- Deleting the preferences cookie simply resets your theme to light mode.
5. Do Not Track
We do not currently respond to browser "Do Not Track" signals, but you can achieve the same result by blocking analytics cookies in your browser.
6. Changes
If we add or remove cookies, this page will be updated with a new "last updated" date.
